Vets Now (Witham)

We were so worried when our puppy wasn't well. We had been seeing our own vets for a while because Teddie wasn't eating. It had been a couple of weeks of picking at food. She started being sick. Her breathing was faster than normal. We were there within an hour. Such a warm welcome and so friendly a great with our puppy. Thankfully Teddie our pomeranian wasn't seriously ill. They were wonderful. Would definitely recommend them

I rarely write damning reviews but I feel compelled to. The night my dog fell ill was horrendous, any pet owner will know how it feels. I arrived at VetsNow gone midnight. I’d been warned on the phone, in fact it was the first thing they told me (!!) that it’d be expensive but I was told to make my way there immediately. As soon as I arrived in Witham there were also two other dog owners there with very poorly dogs , all I could hear was reception talking to them about money. The veterinary nurse was very kind and sweet with my dog so for that I thank her. The vet appeared, did a two minute (at best) spinal exam on my dog, no imaging, no CT (I appreciate they don’t have those facilities) but told me, and I quote ‘well this doesn’t look good’…had I been in the right frame of mind in hindsight I should have asked her to clarify what that meant. But she could see me sobbing on the floor and made no attempts to divulge what she meant or clarify what she suspected it to be. Emotional intelligence zero. Now she wasn’t rude, wasn’t unkind, she just made a statement like that with no information to hand and with no awareness of how a statement like that would make someone feel. My partner was furious and looking back now so am I. They said they could make her ‘comfortable’ for the night and I should go back at 7:30am to collect her and take her to my own vet. I left there at 1am, they had her for 6 hrs (I arrived there at 7am) and I was charged £650. I’m in a very fortunate position whereby I have insurance and was also able to pay upfront. What upsets me so much is all you can hear is staff talking to upset pet owners about payments, and the fact that for £100 an hour (eye watering) I got extremely poor service. Arriving at 7am I was still very upset and scared about how I was going to transport my dog who had lost the use of her rear legs. I voiced my concerns and was told they’d carry her to the car. I asked if she’d used the toilet or whether she was in pain. I got told from behind the desk she’d been to the toilet (no further info provided) and was ‘in a world of her own’ from the drugs. Nothing further, no advice, no care, nothing to explain what they had done with her overnight. They brought out my dog whose neck had seized into a horrendous position and I once again got very distressed. I was told NOTHING about how to transport her, how she was overnight, what they’d done. Zilch. They told me to take her to my vet and go straight there and they would send all the information to my vet directly themselves. I arrived at my vet at bang on 8am to find they did NOT know I was coming, they had NOT been sent the notes and were unaware there was an emergency case. £100 p/hr for that? Its disgusting. My dog ended up in emergency spinal surgery later that day at Southfields who are hands down the loveliest, most professional people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. When I relayed to them what the overnight vet had said to me they apologised and said no one should have used those words, that a slipped disc was their bread and butter case in neurology and my dog should make a full recovery. Vets Now leave a lot to be desired, for the cost of their care I think the service I got was appalling. I hope, for many reasons, that I never have the misfortune of going back there again. As long as they have their money though, that’s the main thing right?

Very impressed with the veterinary services at this emergency clinic. Timely, professional, excellent communication, compassionate. Best emergency clinic we've ever experienced.

So happy there is a vets that is open after hours, and vets now witham were so helpful and caring in our time of need for our cat Bill. They helped out over and above, as there was another problem we did not even know about at the time. It's good to know we can rely on a great caring service for our kits.

fantastic service

Caring staff who understood our anxiety and looked after our poorly cat

Brought my dog here out of hours as he was drooling very badly and I thought he had somehow eaten something poisonous while on a walk earlier in the day. Was seen very quickly by a lovely lady vet who checked him all over and give him an anti sickness injection which did solve his issue. My only complaint is that the consultation is so expensive, £325 just for a out of hours consult.

Fantastic care and support when needed for my very poorly pup. Would recommend.

We were seen to as soon as we arrived at the clinic on a Sunday evening . All the staff were extremely efficient and friendly

Absolutely appalling care…they do not care about your beloved pet, they care solely about the money….i get they are emergency care but this is where they get you!…..try anywhere else before going here!!! The vet holly showed zero compassion, zero empathy. Our puppy was let down massively by vets now and I truly believe if he had gone to a different practice he’d still be with us!
