Sage Vets

I was not impressed with the two previous vets my little dog had. When I saw the beautiful job Mark and his team did in my friend's dog's mouth, I then decided to register my chihuahua Basil with Sage Vets. I wish I had done it longer ago. Basil is an elderly little dog and had to have most of his teeth removed. The day after the procedure, he was completely recovered. Mark and his entire team are exceptional. So caring! So professional! I have no words to express how grateful I am. I wish I could give them thousands stars.

Sage Vets is, without a doubt, one of the most knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate teams of professionals I have ever had the pleasure of finding. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found them, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing our dog is always receiving the very best advice and care is truly invaluable. Olivia, their receptionist, deserves a special mention. She consistently goes above and beyond to help in every situation and always has the kindest, most sincere approach. Whether arranging appointments, organising medication, or simply helping with any queries we may have, Olivia is always incredibly helpful and accommodating. Our dog adores her too, which says a great deal! The entire team at Sage Vets is exceptional, and I genuinely cannot recommend this practice highly enough. We are so grateful for the care, kindness, and professionalism they provide.

My experience with Sage Vets has left me feeling extremely disappointed and upset. Around two months before my most recent visit, my partner and I attended an appointment specifically to discuss our dog's weight, something we were taking seriously and wanted support with. After waiting for over an hour, we were told that we could no longer be seen. My partner had taken time off work to attend, and despite the inconvenience and frustration caused, the issue was never properly followed up. The only communication we received afterwards was an email suggesting we purchase dog food from the practice costing around £80 per month. More recently, I visited Sage Vets because my dog had developed an ear infection. The treatment for this issue was handled appropriately, and I was grateful for the help provided. However, during the appointment, Mark then asked to discuss my dog's weight again. At the time, I was dealing with some difficult personal circumstances and was not in the right frame of mind for that conversation. I politely explained this and specifically asked not to discuss my dog's weight during that appointment. I also said that I would prefer to return another day with my partner, who would be better able to have that discussion at that time. Unfortunately, my request was ignored. Despite clearly stating that I was not mentally in the right place for the conversation, Mark continued with the discussion. I felt spoken down to and patronised throughout. The way the conversation was handled left me feeling as though I was being judged as an irresponsible owner and as though I lacked knowledge about my own dog's breed and care requirements. What upset me most was the lack of empathy shown after I had already explained how I was feeling. Rather than feeling supported, I left feeling stressed, embarrassed and extremely distressed. In fact, I experienced a panic attack after the appointment. The conversation also seemed focused on promoting expensive prescription dog food rather than listening to my concerns and respecting my wishes about when and how to discuss my dog's weight. Following the appointment, I sent an email apologising for my emotional reaction and requesting that my dog be withdrawn from the practice. While I took responsibility for my response, I never received an apology or acknowledgement of how the situation had affected me, despite having clearly communicated that I was struggling and had asked for the discussion to be postponed. I expect veterinary professionals to treat both animals and owners with care, empathy and respect. Sadly, I did not feel listened to, respected or supported during this experience, and it has left me with a very negative impression of the practice. Since this experience, I have spoken to other people about Sage Vets and was surprised to hear that several described very similar experiences. A recurring theme was feeling unheard, patronised, or dismissed during consultations. While I can only speak for my own experience, hearing such similar feedback from others makes me feel that my experience may not have been an isolated incident.

I couldn’t think of a better vet! The whole team is absolutely incredible. Oscar has been very anxious attending the vets, and hasn’t always been the best patient. However, Mark never gave up on Oscar! He took a holistic approach with him and found workarounds to ensure he could give Oscar the best possible care. Each time we go, my confidence builds and so does Oscar’s. His favourite person has to be Sue, I couldn’t think of anyone better to welcome nervous patients into the building. Oscar is an absolute fan of her, and her calming presence makes such a difference. We’re so grateful they opened up their practice and thankful for everything they do. Everyone who works there truly loves what they do - the love for animals is apparent. Thank you all so much!🐶🐾

Wonderful team of vets, nurses and receptionists. Everyone is caring, committed and professional. I moved our cats to this practise from another vets in Loughton and we are over the moon with the level of service and care we’ve so far received. 10/10, thank you Sage Vets.

Great service and great people. Always a warm welcome and the vet care is fantastic. And the vet practice is clean and open. Highly recommended. Bry

We had an amazing experience all round from reception to the consultation with Mark! We cannot thank you enough for putting our mind at ease!

We moved to Sage, from our previous vets, after hearing good things from friends. Our dog, Rollo, has seen Mark at Sage, on a few separate occasions, for different problems. On each visit, Mark has spent time to examine but also explain the issue, with a detailed plan of how to look after Rollo, once we have left. Mark also followed up on the phone, to confirm results of tests, once he had them. The team at Sage are thorough and friendly in their approach, with a level of care and communication, that we hadn’t experienced at our previous vets.
