Goddard Veterinary Group Loughton is part of the Goddard Veterinary Group and has been established since 2003. The practice is RCVS accredited, has an in-house lab and X-ray, and the website says it was recently fully refurbished to create a more spacious, stress-free environment for pets.
Based on the latest reviews, owners most often describe hands-on care for serious situations and dentistry: one cat was treated after being hit by a car, and another pet had “lots of teeth removed” with owners highlighting thorough checks and strong aftercare communication. A contrasting theme appears in a 1-star review describing an urgent call about an injured stray cat where the receptionist allegedly required upfront payment despite an RSPCA incident number and did not offer immediate welfare care.
From the clinic website and the reviews, services and capabilities mentioned include
Emergency/out-of-hours: the website says that emergencies and out-of-hours cases are referred to dedicated 24/7 emergency pet hospitals (with Wanstead Veterinary Hospital named as the closest).
4.6 stars from 99 reviews. The latest reviews available include multiple detailed 5-star experiences (dentistry, emergency care, euthanasia support) and a repeated 1-star complaint about handling an injured stray cat and payment policy. “”

My cat was hit by a car on Tuesday. She was brought to the surgery by two lovely ladies that scooped her up from the side of the road. Allegra has received exceptional care since the moment she was admitted. Walter the vet and the nurses have done everything in their power and they have saved my cat. I cannot thank them enough. Walter really cares for his patients. Thumbs up for this surgery. Katia

What can I say! I am so thrilled with Walter and all the nurses/staff at Loughton Branch for there wonderful, kind care for my little Bella who had to have lots of teeth removed last week. The level of care given to her was just wonderful - Very thorough in checking her over, the aftercare was great with smashing communication throughout. Thank you so much. Note: Bella ran back into then surgery for her first post op check - so they must be good ha ha

I contacted this practice seeking urgent treatment for a stray cat that had been severely limping for several days. I had already obtained an RSPCA incident number, which covers the cost of veterinary care in such cases. However, the receptionist was immediately dismissive and abrupt, stating that I personally would need to pay up front because they "don’t want to be chasing RSPCA invoices for three months." I was also told the cat would need to be booked in according to their general appointment availability, despite the fact it was clearly an urgent welfare case. This response is deeply concerning, as it appears to contradict the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct, which requires veterinary practices to provide first aid and pain relief to any animal in need—regardless of ownership status. Being difficult and obtrusive regarding an injured stray that is in pain, especially when RSPCA funding is available, is unacceptable.

Went to Goddards in Loughton with our little fur baby Bruce. We had to have him put to sleep and Walter and Abbie were amazing. They were very kind and caring and we never felt rushed. We were told to take as long as we needed and to go home pay the next day. Completely opposite experience to the one we had at Pets At Home last year. Would recommend Walter as he has always acted professionally and always puts the pet and owners first. Five Stars.

Such a welcoming vets! Front staff were amazing, putting my little puppy into a side room to avoid a nervous dog. Guinnie had the best time as she got cooked chicken and liver paste. Photo of her on her way back!
