Went here with our dog who had a turn in the early hours. We were seen by a vet within 30 minutes of calling. Treated with kindness and empathy by the staff. He's now home and resting. Thanks to the staff on shift at Vets Now Manningtree.
The staff were very friendly and very caring. However, when I called initially my dog was completely unresponsive but when I arrived I was asked to just take a seat and that there may be a bit of a wait. Luckily, my dog had slightly improved by the time that I arrived but there was little in the way of enquiry of her current condition before being advised to just take a seat.
I would rate the care at 4 stars. However, my dog spent around 6-7 minutes with a triage nurse, and twenty five minutes with a vet plus 1 blood test, at a cost of £439.50!!
After a worrying evening I had to go back. I was with a vet for around 5-6 minutes at an additional cost of 130.50.
So the approx 40 minutes in consultation with 1 x blood test, cost £570 in total with ZERO TREATMENT. Extortion at its finest.
I’m not sure what to say in all honesty. I rushed my English Bull terrier in with severe stomach discomfort, I was kept waiting 40 minutes whilst my dog was panting and shaking in the reception area. Eventually She was taken through and I was told she’d be xrayed under sedation, but apparently she wasn’t responding to the drugs. I was asked to leave her there and come back later so they could x ray again as she had gas in her stomach. Before I left I was asked about my pet insurance status and what started at £1200 increased to £2200 pretty quickly. Later I received a call to say they were going to operate! I was shocked as I expected a scan and observation.. my dog was opened up, nothing found and a vet bill of over £4000, which I strongly believe is due to my insurance status. A receptionist even commented when I called through with my policy number “oh that’s a good policy” I’d like to think our vet’s aren’t cutting animals open for money… however I’m not sure, and I feel this could have been handled very differently! And of course I’m now left with weeks of post surgery recovery and further vet bills for check ups and medication. I’m actually appalled and the whole experience has further compounded my distrust of vets
As previously stated, of course I am extremely grateful for the vets in my time of need.
HOWEVER, the prices are insane, especially since I’m not entirely convinced my pet saw a vet and wasn’t just dealt with by the nurses, which is fine but at £320+ for a consultation I kind of expect to have my pet triaged at least with me present rather than just sat in the waiting room.
I understand that the overhead costs for out of hours must be more expensive, but it seems this practice has the monopoly on it with all the local vets using them.
Also, £35 admin charge for going through insurance due to them having to sign forms… really… I complete the bulk online!
So grateful for vets now in Manningtree, had an incident with my little dog Daisy and they was all so caring and helpful we managed to pick her up at 6 in the morning back to her normal self,it did cost nearly a grand but I’m just glad she’s back to herself
We were very pleased with the service and treatment we received when our cat needed an emergency vet.
We were seen straight away, diagnosis and treatment sorted. Great advice and friendly staff.
Sadly I had to use their services on 1st January 2026. From start to finish starting with the lady on the phone who was knowledgeable and understanding. Fast forward a few hours we bought our boy wanni down who was in a terible amount of pain.Alex the vet (hope i spell it right)was honest and upfront with us from the minute we met.ive met many vets in my life but this guy stands out he was absoloutley exceptional and his compassion and understanding is something that won't leave me.he was the perfect man for the job(yes I no hes paid for it)but lemmi tell u,u do not meet people like him often and im 4eva grateful he was there. He is 1 in a million.Explained everything in full even tho it was hard to take in what was hapening.Unfortunately for me i lost my best friend wanni that day who was also 1 in a million i lost my bestest friend in this world and im truly devastated but Alex's honesty is somethin I will not forget. U don't no how much it meant to be to treated this way.Alex is an invaluable member of the vets now team at brantham.i did call up and pass on my regards but sometimes thank u isn't enough. Just like sorry doesn't cover losing your beloved pet. Alex if u eva read this its lou wannis mum and I will sing ur praises as long as im on this earth. 4eva grateful I just wish I hadn't lost my beautiful boy . Highly recommend this team. Easy process, staff friendly and helpful, management plan given, would use them again if required
Had to go to the emergency vets when one of our cats got hold of and ate some string whilst we were out. Everyone we spoke to at Vets Now was so friendly, kind and helpful, they really put us at ease and helped as much as they could - even though the injection to induce vomiting didn't work on either of our cats!
It's nice to know they're available for urgent care, however, the pricing is so expensive which is the only reason for knocking off one star. Over £300 just for one pet to be looked at, although we were given a discounted rate for our other cat, as we weren't sure which had eaten the string. There were at least 3 members of staff on duty though, so it is understandable as long as it's going towards paying their wages, but would be prohibitive for some.
Awful predatory prices. Called them when my vets were closed as my cat had broken the lower part of his leg. Was told a consultation would cost over £300 which is about what it ended up costing me at my normal vets for the xray, meds and consultation together. Lady on the phone kept repeating the same price and terms and conditions like a robot. At some points did wonder if it was as there was not a hint of sympathy. Unfortunately companies like this provide an essential service, which is why they see fit to squeeze hundreds out of desparate people and hurt animals. I don't know how anyone here sleeps at night.
